Budget-minded theater lovers will applaud the Denver Center for Performing Arts’ ongoing $10 ticket program, now that the 2017-18 theater season is underway. The discount program DCPAccess provides access to plays and the occasional Broadway production at up to 75 percent off. If a discount ticket is available for a show date, the option to purchase will appear on the DCPA website or be offered at the box office. Typically, the discounted tickets are offered one week prior to the start of a show’s run. The bargain tickets can be ordered online, in-person (1101 13th St.) at the box office or by phone at 303-893-4100. Dream of being a firefighte­r for a day? Now’s your chance. West Metro Fire Protection District hosts its popular Family Fire Muster on Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its training center (3535 S. Kipling, Lakewood). The event is free and you’ll see all kinds of live demonstrat­ions, including a response to a house fire. Fire engines, cool gear, firefighte­rs ... what’s not to like? Kids will enjoy fun activities like the junior firefighte­r challenge, teddy bear clinic, bike rodeo and inflatable slides. Tour Fire Station No. 10 and West Metro’s Training Center.
