3 things to watch
1. Protecting Siemian
Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian performed well in Week 1 when he had time to throw, but he was bothered by pressure off the edge too often. The Chargers sacked Siemian four times and hit him nine times. Denver is depending on tackles Garett Bolles and Menelik Watson to clean up their mistakes against a Dallas defense that sacked Eli Manning three times last week.
2. Attacking the outside
Dallas could be without starting cornerback Orlando Scandrick, who suffered a fractured left hand against the Giants. That may be the opening the Broncos need to frequently target Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, who combined for eight catches for 93 yards in last week’s victory. Look for the Broncos to attack Chidobe Awuzie, the second-round pick out of the University of Colorado, if he’s moved into the starting lineup for Scandrick.
3. Winning third down
The Broncos converted 8 of 15 third-down chances and held the Chargers to 3 of 12 on thirddown conversions Monday night. The Cowboys had a nearly identical success rate on third down in their win over the Giants, converting 8 of 15 and limiting New York to 4 of 12. Which team can replicate its Week 1 returns Sunday?
