Protection issues continued to plague Denver. DEFENSE A- The Broncos bounced back after a 64-yard Derek Carr TD pass to dominate for three quarters. Backup QB EJ Manuel did fourthquarter damage against Denver’s secondary, but safety Justin Simmons sealed the victory on an interception with 1:46 left. SPECIAL TEAMS B-

The Broncos used jumbo formations in the second half to pound the Raiders in the ground game, a key adjustment as Oakland began generating pressure on Siemian. GAME BALLS Justin Simmons, S. His fourth-quarter interception on a deep ball from Oakland backup quarterback EJ Manuel sealed a white-knuckle victory for Denver.
Domata Peko, NT. He might have registered only two tackles, but the veteran defensive lineman anchored another dominant performance by Denver’s run defense.
A.J. Derby, TE. He had four catches for a career-high 75 yards and a spectacular onehanded touchdown grab that gave the Broncos a 7-0 lead.
