STANFORD WILL START CHRYST

- — The Associated Press

Stanford announced junior Keller Chryst will start at quarterback against No. 20 Utah on Saturday, but redshirt freshman K.J. Costello will also play.

Chryst took over as the starter midway through the 2016 season and suffered what appeared to be a head injury early in the Cardinal’s 58-34 win against UCLA on Sept. 23. He didn’t dress for last week’s win against Arizona State.

Top dog picks Georgia.

The No. 1-ranked prospect in the country, quarterback Justin Fields, is staying home.

Fields, a 6-foot-3, 221pound dual-threat QB from Kennesaw, Ga., committed to the Georgia Bulldogs at a school pep rally, ending a recruitment that had been trending in that direction since August.

• Georgia starting linebacker Natrez Patrick was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana-related charges by police in Athens, Ga., late Thursday.

LSU “on the same page.”

Players, coaches and even LSU’s athletic director spent time this week discussing the overall direction of the program following last Saturday’s loss to Troy.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron said he and athletic director Joe Alleva had a meeting with offensive coordinators Matt Canada and defensive coordinator Dave Aranda to make sure everyone was “on the same page.”

Ole Miss will have a new mascot lurking on the sidelines of its athletic events: Landshark.
