Nyheim Hines ran for an 83-yard touchdown and returned a punt 92 yards for another score on his way to 249 total yards to help No. 20 North Carolina State (6-1, 4-0) win its sixth straight game with a 35-17 victory over Pittsburgh (2-5, 0-3).

In the Pac-12. Ross Bowers did an acrobatic flip into the end zone to cap a touchdown run for California (4-3, 1-3) and the Golden Bears used a dominant defensive performanc­e to stun No. 8 Washington State (6-1, 3-1) 37-3 late Friday for their first win in 14 years against a top-10 team. Camryn Bynum had two of California’s five intercepti­ons against Luke Falk, and the Bears used seven turnovers and nine sacks.

In the American Athletic. Quarterbac­k Quinton Flowers eclipsed 3,000 yards career rushing and scored one touchdown to help No. 18 South Florida (6-0, 3-0) extend the nation’s longest winning streak to 11 games with a 33-3 victory over Cincinnati (2-5, 0-3).

• Mckenzie Milton threw two touchdown passes and ran for a score, and No. 22 UCF (5-0, 3-0) also got touchdowns on defense and special teams in a 63-21 rout of East Carolina (1-6, 1-3).

• Riley Ferguson threw three touchdown passes and Memphis (5-1, 2-1) took advantage of five turnovers by No. 25 Navy (5-1, 3-1) to hand the Midshipmen their first loss, 30-27. Quarterbac­k Zach Abey ran for 146 yards for Navy, but the Tigers held the nation’s leading running game 100 yards below its 416-yard average.
