ALDRIDGE, MURRAY POWER SPURS PAST RAPTORS

LaMarcus Aldridge had 20 points and Dejounte Murray had 16 points and 15 rebounds as the Spurs held on to beat the Raptors 101-97 on Monday night.

San Antonio was without Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker, and Toronto was without Jonas Valanciuna­s, and their absences were noticeable in the flow of each team’s offense.

The Spurs had a season-high 20 turnovers. They were averaging 11 turnovers in their first two games, but had four in the opening four minutes. Toronto kept the game close despite being outrebound­ed 56-33.

DeMar DeRozan had 28 points and Serge Ibaka had 13.

MONDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

Ben Simmons had a triple-double in his fourth NBA game, Joel Embiid scored 30 points and the 76ers beat the Pistons 97-86 for their first win of the season.. … Stephen Curry scored 29 points, Kevin Durant added 25 and the Warriors pulled away from the Mavericks in the second half of a 133-103 victory. … Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 32 points and 14 rebounds, and the Bucks scored the final nine points in a 103-94 victory over the Hornets.

… Marc Gasol scored 26 points to lead the Grizzles to a 98-90 win over the Rockets. … Josh Richardson scored 21 points, Wayne Ellington made six 3pointers in the second quarter and the Heat wasted a 21-point lead before recovering to beat the Hawks 104-93.

Curry hit with $50K fine.

Warriors guard Stephen Curry was fined $50,000 for throwing his mouthpiece in the direction of a game official. Curry tossed his mouthpiece in the general direction of a referee in frustratio­n while complainin­g about a no-call on a drive. As part of the same incident, Warriors forward Andre Iguodala was fined $15,000 for verbally abusing a game official. … Cavaliers guard Dwyane Wade requested to come off the bench, returning JR Smith to the starting shooting guard role Smith occupied for most of the past three seasons. … Suns guard Eric Bledsoe has probably played his final game for the team, general manager Ryan McDonough. The GM said he called Bledsoe to inquire about the veteran guard’s tweet Sunday, when he posted “I Don’t wanna be here” hours before the Suns fired coach Earl Watson.
