EAGLES LOSE PETERS, HICKS FOR THE SEASON

- — The Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA» Standout left offensive tackle Jason Peters and middle linebacker Jordan Hicks are out for the rest of the season, Eagles coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday.

Both players were hurt during Monday night’s 34-24 win over the Redskins.

Peters was carted off the field early in the third quarter after suffering injuries to the MCL and ACL in his right knee. Hicks needed assistance leaving the field two plays into the game after suffering a ruptured right Achilles tendon.

Lynch’s suspension appeal denied.

Marshawn Lynch’s appeal of his one-game suspension for shoving an official was declined, and the running back will miss Oakland’s game this week at Buffalo.

Lynch was suspended for coming off the sideline during a scuffle in the second quarter and then shoving a game official during Oakland’s 31-30 victory over Kansas City on Thursday night. The ban will cost him more than $100,000 in salary and per-game roster bonuses.

Vikings’ Sendejo loses appeal.

Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo’s onegame suspension has been upheld for violating the NFL’s player safety rules for a hit against Ravens receiver Mike Wallace on Sunday.

Wallace took a vicious hit to the head from Sendejo in the first quarter, which drew a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty.

GM takes blame for Giants’ 1-6 record.

General manager Jerry Reese accepted responsibility for the Giants’ dismal play in a season that started with legitimate Super Bowl hopes and now sees them mired with one win (at Denver) in seven games.

Speaking as the Giants prepared to leave for their bye week, Reese said he put the current roster together, so the blame falls on him.

Bush wants to play but eyes retirement.

Reggie Bush has spent the past 11 seasons on NFL rosters after being the No. 2 overall pick in the 2006 draft by New Orleans. This year, though, he hasn’t been on a team at all. Despite that, the running back said he would still like to play.

“I still want to play, but if it doesn’t happen this year, then I’m going to retire,” Bush told ESPN in a phone interview. “I’m not going to miss a whole year and then try to come back for another season at 33 years old. It doesn’t make sense.”
