Magill’s ice cream

- Provided by Magill's

I made a mistake. A cool, creamy, sweet mistake.

This past summer, I put together a list of the 13 must-try ice creams of summer. I chose my very favorite ice cream parlors and then asked the shops to select their best ice cream flavor for inclusion on that list.

Ieata lot of ice cream, so I felt pretty confident in my 13 ice cream shop picks.

But I missed one. A reader told me that I should try Magill’s World of Ice Cream in Lakewood, and like all the great suggestions I get from readers, I held onto it, filing it away in my brain on my mental to-eat list for the next time I was in the area.

I wasn’t exactly hungry when I walked in, but lack of stomach space is no excuse to miss out on ice cream, so I went for it, trying a couple flavors in my cone and grabbing two quarts to go. (More is more, right?)

Now, ice cream is one of those things that is almost always good. So good, in fact, that it’s hard to stand out as exceptional. It’s difficult to find bad ice cream, but it’s also difficult to find great ice cream; ice cream that is so good that it rises above the alreadyamazing treat.

Magill’s has great ice cream.

It’s so rich and creamy, that each one I tried (salted caramel cheesecake, peanut butter fudge and pumpkin) was perfectly true to its flavor. This is some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had, and I’ll be returning not just when I’m in Lakewood, but whenever I want a delicious frozen treat.

Which is to say, I’ll be back often.
