Kid Rock invokes “Southern Sugar” on tour

Whether or not he follows through, Kid Rock’s threat to run for a Senate seat feels more indicative of the current cultural moment than any nascent civic stirrings. It’s also a well-timed bit of publicity for Rock’s curiously titled new album “Sweet Southern Sugar” (Rock, a.k.a., 46-yearold Robert James Ritchie, grew up on a 6-acre estate outside Detroit) and its bombastica­lly titled “The Greatest Show on Earth Tour.” It visits the Pepsi Center on March 20, and tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 3.
