» A good Samaritan who stopped to help two woman along a Weld County road was robbed of cash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The robbery happened about 1: 40 a. m. Oct. 26 at Colorado 392 and County Road 35, north of Greeley, according to a news release.

The victim told deputies he was driving home when he stopped to help two women, who were beside a parked vehicle with emergency lights flashing. When the Samaritan got out of his vehicle and offered assistance a man got out of the other vehicle with the emergency lights flashing, which was a ruse. The assailant and the two women got back into their vehicle and drove off.

All three suspects were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

The suspect vehicle is a red Volkswagen Jetta with dark window tinting. The tinting is imperfect and pocked with air bubbles. The rear wheel on the passenger side was missing a hubcap.

Inmate sex, texting lead to changes at jail.

PITKIN

A jail inmate cited COUNTY in October with using a smuggled cellphone to text his family was sanctioned last spring for having sex with a female inmate, Sheriff Joe DiSalvo said Wednesday.

Both incidents, along with at least two others in the past 14 months, have led to changes at the jail, including uniforms of different colors for women and more frequent inmate check- ups, he said.

“I am embarrassed,” DiSalvo said. “I can’t even give you a good excuse. We did not do a good job.”

The consensual sex between BrolinMcConnell, 31, and Jennifer Helms, 36, occurred April 4 in the middle of the afternoon in his cell and lasted for at least two hours, DiSalvo said. Inmates are supposed to be checked on by jail deputies every 30 to 40 minutes, he said.
