ALA.» Alabama TUSCALOOSA, starting inside linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton probably will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, coach Nick Saban said after the Crimson Tide’s 24-10 win over LSU on Saturday night.

Hamilton tore his ACL last season during the SEC championship game. The senior from Montgomery, Ala., missed both rounds of the College Football Playoff and spring practice while recovering from the injury.

Alabama also saw backup linebacker Mack Wilson carted off the field with a foot injury during the win over LSU. Saban said that the sophomore is also probably out for the season.

Star Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick suffered apparent hamstring and head injuries during the game but was able to return in a limited capacity.

Police charge fan.

Police are investigating a videotaped altercation in which a University of Miami football fan slaps an officer, who then punches her in the head.

Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said in an email Sunday that Bridget Freitas, a 30-yearold nurse, has been charged with felony battery on a police officer and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He said the department is reviewing the video to make sure proper procedures were followed in the altercation at Hard Rock Stadium during Miami’s win Saturday over Virginia Tech.

Pettis becomes the best.

Washington receiver Dante Pettis is the NCAA’s new all-time leader in punt return touchdowns.

Pettis’ 64-yard return for a touchdown in the second quarter of Washington’s 38-3 win over Oregon on Saturday was the ninth of his career and broke a tie with Antonio Perkins (Oklahoma) and Wes Welker (Texas Tech).

• Ronald Jones II rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 17 Southern California overcame a big second-half rally led by Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate for a 49-35 victory over the 23rdranked Wildcats late Saturday night.

Notre Dame and Clemson climbed while Ohio State and Penn State tumbled out of the top 10, leaving the latest Associated Press poll looking like the College Football Playoff rankings — with one big difference.
