KIZZIRE BOUND FOR MASTERS AFTER HIS FIRST PGA TOUR TITLE

Kizzire won his first PGA Tour title by beating Rickie Fowler over 36 holes on the final day of the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

Kizzire closed with rounds of 66 and 67 on Sunday for a one-shot victory over Fowler, who fell four shots behind until putting together a rally that came too late at El Camaleon Golf Club. Fowler had rounds of 67 and 67 in the rain-delayed event.

Kizzire finished at 19-under 265 overall. He seized control on the 17th hole of the third round with a twoshot swing — Kizzire made a birdie, Fowler made a bogey — to take a one-shot lead into the final round. Fowler quickly fell three shots behind and never caught up.

Kizzire’s victory sends him to the Masters for the first time.

• Kevin Sutherland finally broke through on the PGA Tour Champions, winning the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championsh­ip — and the topping the year-long competitio­n, too.

• Branden Grace’s 30-foot putt for a birdie on No. 16 set up his one-shot victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, giving South Africa a home winner at Sun City for the first time in a decade.

U.S. wins Fed Cup again.

BELARUS» The United States won its 18th Fed Cup title, and first since 2000, with a 3-2 win over Belarus.

CoCo Vandeweghe and Shelby Rogers beat Aryna Sabalenka and Aliaksandr­a Sasnovich 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the deciding doubles of the 2017 final.

Sasnovich had kept Belarus alive after beating U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens 4-6, 6-1, 8-6 to leave the final level at 2-2.

Vandeweghe earlier beat Sabalenka 7-6 (5), 6-1 to give the U.S. a 2-1 lead.

The U.S. holds the most Fed Cup titles in the internatio­nal team competitio­n. This was its fourth Fed Cup final since last winning in 2000.

Belarus was making its first appearance in a Fed Cup final.

• One break of serve, and a minibreak, was all Swiss star Roger Federer needed to win his opening match at the season-ending ATP Finals.

The 19-time Grand Slam champion broke Jack Sock in the first game of the 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory at the O2 Arena in London. Both then held serve the rest of the way.

The 36-year-old Federer, who is ranked No. 2 in the world and won the Australian Open and Wimbledon this season, is the oldest player ever to qualify for the season-ending tournament, which started in 1970.

U.S. beats Canada in Four Nations.

Hannah Brandt scored twice in the second period and the United States women beat Canada 5-1 to win their third consecutiv­e Four Nations Cup championsh­ip.

Hilary Knight and Amanda Kessel each contribute­d a goal and an assist. Kendall Coyne had a goal, and Dani Cameranesi added four assists.

Maddie Rooney made 18 saves and improved to 3-0 in the Americans’ four games at this tournament.

Force wins NHRA top fuel title.

CALIF.» Brittany Force became POMONA, the NHRA’s first female top fuel season champion since Shirley Muldowney in 1982 in the seasonendi­ng Auto Club NHRA Finals.

Castle View wins 5A volleyball title.

Castle View beat Cherry Creek 15-13 in the fifth set to win its first state championsh­ip in any sport Saturday night at the Denver Coliseum. The Sabercats dropped their first match of the Class 5A volleyball tournament to Rock Canyon on Friday, but fought their way into the semifinals via a tiebreaker.

In 4A, nationally ranked LewisPalme­r won its 58th consecutiv­e match and the state title by defeating Valor Christian in three sets.

In 3A, Eaton swept Lutheran; Lyons beat Yuma 3-1 in 2A; and Kit Carson swept Fleming 3-0 to win the 1A title.
