College Football Briefs NEBRASKA AD TO STAY WITH RILEY FOR NOW

- — The Associated Press

Nebraska coach Mike Riley is out of answers and in two weeks could be out of a job.

The Cornhuskers’ 54-21 loss at Minnesota on Saturday was their fourth in five games, greatly diminished their bowl hopes, and left them to ponder the possibility of finishing with their fewest wins since 1961.

Calls from the fan base imploring new athletic director Bill Moos to make a coaching change are only growing louder, and sports columnists for the state’s two largest newspapers suggested that Moos consider firing Riley immediately.

Since replacing the fired Shawn Eichorst a month ago, Moos has watched Nebraska (4-6, 3-4 Big Ten) lose 56-14 at home to Ohio State, win 25-24 at Purdue in the last minute, lose 31-24 in overtime at home to Northwestern, then suffer the beatdown at Minnesota.

Moos said he’s intent to stick with Mike Riley through the end of this season despite growing pressure to the contrary.

“It’s not like I’ve got a coach to hire this afternoon at 3:30,” Moos said Monday. “Mike Riley deserves to finish the 2017 season. That’s how I operate.”

Tennessee loses commits.

The fallout from Butch Jones’ firing includes four decommitments.

Receiver Alontae Taylor, No. 46 in the class of 2018, officially decommitted after Jones was fired.

In addition to Taylor, receiver Shocky JacquesLouis, defensive back Tanner Ingle and junior college defensive end Dorian Gerald announced decommitments.

Badgers players injured.

WIS.» Undefeated MADISON,

Wisconsin could be without starting center Tyler Biadasz for its game Saturday against Michigan.

Biadasz suffered a left leg injury in last Saturday’s 38-14 victory over Iowa and is listed as questionable along with starting safety D’Cota Dixon, who sat out the game against the Hawkeyes with a right leg injury.
