TRUMP: CHINA AGREES NUKE WEAPON FREEZE NOT ENOUGH

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the U.S. and China agree that North Korea cannot just freeze its nuclear weapons program in exchange for concession­s and that it must eliminate its arsenal.

Trump was restating a long-standing U.S. position but suggested that China now concurred with Washington that a “freezefor-freeze” agreement was unacceptab­le.

Manson reportedly in grave condition in California hospital.

Cult leader Charles Manson has been hospitaliz­ed in California with a bleak prognosis, according to a report Wednesday. The 83-yearold was taken to a Bakersfiel­d hospital three days ago, TMZ.com said. The notorious mass murderer serving seven life sentences in Corcoran State Prison has been suffering from health issues.

Dangerous Hawaii psychiatri­c patient arrested in California.

A man acquitted of a 1979 murder by reason of insanity who escaped from a Hawaii psychiatri­c hospital during the weekend was arrested Wednesday in California.

Randall Saito left the Hawaii State Hospital on Sunday, took a taxi to a chartered plane bound for the island of Maui, and boarded another plane to San Jose, Calif., Honolulu police said. Saito was captured Wednesday morning in Stockton.

Russia’s lower house of parliament on Wednesday unanimousl­y approved a bill allowing the government to register internatio­nal media outlets as foreign agents, a swift retaliatio­n to the U.S. demands made to a Russian TV channel. The bill comes days after the Russian state-funded RT registered with the U.S. Justice Department as a foreign agent after pressure from Washington.

Congress urged to tighten rules on Chinese state media in U.S.

All staff members of Chinese state-run media outlets in the United States should be required to register with the government as foreign agents as they may be supporting Chinese intelligen­ce gathering and “informatio­n warfare,” congressio­nal advisers said Wednesday.

The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission said Beijing has expanded its overseas media presence to promote a positive view of the rising Asian nation and the Communist Party, even as it has tightened its control over media and online content at home and has increased restrictio­ns on foreign journalist­s in China. — Denver Post wire services
