Local Briefs THIRD LIFE SENTENCE FOR GUNMAN

COUNTY» A 22-yearold ADAMS man was sentenced Monday to life in prison for a fatal shooting at an Aurora bar and grill that prosecutor­s said was gangrelate­d.

Kenneth Ray Banks was sentenced to life without parole, plus a 32-year sentence, in the fatal shooting of Fallon Devon Dewitt and the wounding of Michael Vincent Green, both 34, according to the district attorney’s office.

The shooting happened Nov. 20, 2015, outside the Montview Bar and Grill, 11680 E. Montview Blvd., according to a news release. The two men were leaving the bar when Banks approached them, asked for a cigarette and shot the pair.

Banks was sentenced in Denver last month to two life sentences without parole for two murders that also happened in November 2015.

Police continue search for vandal who slashed $3 million painting.

The disguised man who ran into a downtown Aspen art gallery last spring and slashed a $3 million painting lives or is based outside the United States, which has slowed the investigat­ion into the incident, police said last week.

A representa­tive of the painting’s ownership group confirmed Friday, through an Aspen attorney, that the wall-sized canvas by New York artist Christophe­r Wool titled “Untitled 2004” has been repaired and returned to the group.

Police on Monday asked for the public’s help in identifyin­g the person who fatally shot a teenager in northeast Denver.

Ijah Hamilton, 17, was shot about 7:40 p.m. Thursday when a vehicle he was in stopped at the corner of East Thrill Place and Forest Street, according to Denver police. More than one suspect approached, and shots were fired at Hamilton and another male inside the vehicle. The second victim was hit by gunfire and survived.
