VISITING ANGLER LANDS RECORD ARCTIC CHAR
A doctor visiting from Virginia landed a state record arctic char while fishing in Dillon Reservoir.
Lindsay Regali landed the lunker on Nov. 6.
The fish — which she kept and is having mounted — weighed in at 4.15 pounds and 23.5 inches, breaking the previous record of 3.75 pounds and 20.5 inches, caught in Dillon Reservoir in 1994 by Marshall Brenner.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife certified the fish as the new state record.
“There was an ongoing joke throughout the day that I was jealous of how many fish my husband had been catching,” Regali said in a Colorado Parks and Wildlife news release. “I realized it was big but had no idea how big until we got it in the boat.”
Parks and Wildlife first began stocking the slowgrowing arctic char in Dillon in the 1990s.
Dillon Reservoir is the only public body of water in the lower 48 states, outside of Maine, in which arctic char can be caught.
Scant snow pushes Eldora opening back again.
Eldora Mountain Resort will not be open Thanksgiving Day, but the ski resort still plans to open Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
The resort announced the delay on Twitter on Tuesday, but the delay is not the first of the season.
This month the resort announced that it had pushed its opening to Thanksgiving after snow melted off the mountain before skiers and snowboarders could hit the slopes.
Historically, the resort opens the Friday before Thanksgiving, but temperatures have not been low enough for sufficient levels of snow.
Windsor town manager resigns.
Windsor town manager Kelly Arnold resigned Tuesday after a decade on the job.
Arnold, in a statement sent to town employees, said his departure was a “mutual decision (with the Windsor Town Board) following an informal request from the town board.” It came after the board held a closed-door meeting for Arnold’s annual performance review.
Windsor Mayor Kristie Melendez said Arnold “resigned of his own volition” after his annual review, but she also said that the town board wanted a fresh face in the position.
