Fans of the founding fathers — and/or musical theater — start your countdown clocks now.

The Denver Center for the Performing Arts and producer Jeffrey Seller announced Friday that tickets for the local run of the smash hit Broadway musical “Hamilton” will go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 22 at hamilton.denvercenter.org.

Tickets will be sold to all Buell Theatre performances of the show, Feb. 27 through April 1, according to the announcement.

Prices will range from $75 to $165 per ticket. There also will be a limited number of premium seats available for $545 each.

Buyers will be limited to four tickets per account.

Details are forthcoming on a lottery that will award 40 people per show $10 orchestra seats.

“Hamilton” is based on the life story of Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant to colonial America who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the American Revolution and later served as the country’s first Treasury secretary. Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who starred as Hamilton in the original Broadway production, the hugely popular show won 11 Tony awards. It features an infectious score that blends hiphop, jazz, blues and R&B with classic Broadway musical styling.

People who have paid for a DCPA Broadway subscription package are being offered a presale opportunity opening Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. and closing at 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 18. Subscribers will receive an email the day those sales open with a link to the website where they can make their purchases. They will be limited to two tickets per account. Subscribers are not guaranteed tickets, according to the DCPA. Group tickets will not be available.

With interest guaranteed to be through the roof, producer Seller is urging people to buy directly from the DCPA to avoid potential fraud or paying a substantial markup on the secondary market.

“It’s tempting to get tickets any way you can. There are many sites and people that are selling overpriced, and in some cases, fraudulent tickets,” Seller said in a news release. “For the best seats, the best prices and to eliminate the risk of counterfeit tickets, all purchases for the Denver engagement should be made through hamilton.denvercenter.org.”

Tickets may also be obtained by calling 303-893-4100 or showing up at the DCPA box office in person. The box office is located in the lobby of the Helen Bonfils Theatre Complex, near the corner of Speer Boulevard and Arapahoe Street.
