OHIO STATE KNOCKS OFF NO. 1 SPARTY

OHIO» Keita BatesDiop COLUMBUS, scored a career-high 32 points Sunday as Ohio State stunned No. 1 Michigan State 80-64.

The Buckeyes put together an electrifyi­ng 12-0 run to finish the first half and kept their foot on the gas to give first-year coach Chris Holtmann a signature win.

Ohio State (13-4, 4-0 Big Ten) won its third straight in taking down the best team it’s likely to see this season. The mistakepro­ne Spartans (15-2, 3-1) lost for the first time in their last 15 games, dating to a seven-point loss to then-No. 1 Duke on Nov. 14.

The Spartans, who came in leading the nation with a .533 field-goal percentage, shot just 39 percent for the game and committed a dozen turnovers. Joshua Langford and Miles Bridges each scored 17 points.

Bates-Diop hit 12-of-21 attempts from the floor, including 2-of-4 shots from the 3-point line. His previous career high was 27 points against Iowa just three days ago.

C.J. Jackson scored 14 points for Ohio State, and Jae’Sean Tate contribute­d 13.

Shannon Evans scored 22 points as No. 4 Arizona State outlasted Utah 80-77. … Freshman Chris Lykes scored a season-high 18 points, and No. 15 Miami withstood a late rally by No. 24 Florida State for an 80-74 win. … Daejon Davis launched a shot from a stride behind half court to give Stanford a 77-76 win over USC as time expired. Reid Travis carried Stanford with a gamehigh 29 points.

Women

SEATTLE» Alexis Robinson scored 22 points and Janea Bunn added 17 as Colorado posted a 66-61 comeback victory against Washington, holding off a late surge by the Huskies.

Washington jumped out to a 20-9 lead after one quarter as Colorado committed six turnovers in the first five minutes.

Colorado came back with a 22-point third quarter, catching up at 34-34 when Kennedy Leonard converted a three-point play after an Annika Jank steal. Bunn scored on a jump shot and later added a free throw as the Buffs led for the first time, 39-38, at 3:41 of the third quarter and never trailed again.

Jank scored four points with nine rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Her block of an Alexis Griggsby jumper with 23.6 seconds left in the game was huge for Colorado (11-4, 2-2 Pac12). Robinson controlled the rebound, was fouled and made one of her two free throws, staking the Buffs to a five-point lead.

Amber Melgoza, who poured in 28 points to lead Washington, drained a 3-point shot and then a jump shot that cut the Colorado lead to 61-59 with 1:30 remaining.

Sophie Cunningham scored 27 points to lead No. 15 Missouri to an 83-74 victory over No. 4 South Carolina. … Ruthy Hebard scored 19 points, Sabrina Ionescu had 18 and Maite Cazorla 17 in No. 9 Oregon’s 70-61 victory over UCLA. … Kelsey Mitchell scored 37 points, carrying No. 10 Ohio State through the final minutes of regulation and leading the Buckeyes to a 78-71 overtime victory over No. 22 Michigan. … Miranda Drummond scored a career-high 38 points, including 11 straight late in the fourth quarter that lifted Syracuse to a 76-69 win over No. 11 Florida State. … Kristen Simon scored 21 points as USC rallied to beat No. 16 Oregon

State 65-61.
