Thursday for committing acts of vandalism against the Fort Collins Islamic Center mosque in March, Joseph Giaquinto killed himself Friday in a Fort Collins motel, according to the Larimer County coroner’s office. An autopsy was conducted by Coroner James Wilkerson. Giaquinto’s body was found by hotel staffers Saturday, said sheriff’s spokesman David Moore. On Thursday, a judge sentenced Giaquinto to six months of incarcerat­ion on work-release and three years of reporting to the Larimer County Wellness Court.

Same man suspected in two bank robberies.

Investigat­ors suspect the same man robbed two metro-area banks about three months apart.

The first happened Sept. 25 at a FirstBank, 3531 S. Logan St., Englewood, according to the FBI. The robber handed a demand note to a teller and fled the bank on foot. The robber is described as a white man with blond hair and an average build.

The second robbery was about 2:15 p.m. Friday at a FirstBank, 1316 E. Evans Ave., in Denver. The robber handed a demand note to a teller and fled on foot heading east. The robber is described as a white man, age 30 to 40, about 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-0, with a slim build and a broken front tooth.

Englewood and Denver police and the FBI are investigat­ing the robberies. — Staff and wire reports
