California’s Accelo, which plans to bring 787 jobs to Denver, gets $14.8 million incentive
San Francisco-based Accelo plans to bring close to 800 jobs to Denver over the next several years, the latest in a wave of northern California companies to hit the shores of the northern Front Range.
Accelo, founded in Australia in 2009 before moving to the U.S. in 2011, provides cloud-based business management software to small and medium-sized enterprises.
On Thursday morning, the Colorado Economic Development Commission awarded the company $14.8 million in job growth incentive tax credits, linked to it bringing 787 full-time jobs.
“With this change, we’re moving our focus to Denver, where we expect our office will outnumber our San Francisco office before the summer,” CEO Geoff McQueen said in an email.
The startup recently received a $9 million investment and chose Denver over rivals Travis and Williamstown counties in Texas and Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah.
The jobs include sales, client service and business development and will pay an average annual wage of $92,977.
The commission also approved a $14.3 million job growth incentive tax credit award to a foreign aerospace company codenamed Project Orbit. The company’s U.S. operations are based along the West Coast and also have a heavy presence in Virginia.
The company, which has operations in Colorado, is looking to establish a new headquarters and shared services center to assist its U.S. operations. Colorado is competing with Virginia, Michigan, South Carolina, British Columbia and Quebec for the relocation.
Within Colorado, the company is looking at Adams, Boulder, Weld and Denver counties. The average annual wage for the jobs the company expects to bring in is $116,917 a year.
In all, the commission approved $37 million in incentive awards for seven companies with the potential to bring nearly 2,150 jobs, including final approval for $267,500 strategic funds to Arrivo.
The California company plans to create 152 jobs at a transportation testing facility in Commerce City.
Arrivo is working on a futuristic transportation system that will move cars on pods at 200 miles per hour.
