Police have arrested a 30-yearold man in connection with the murder of a Fort Collins woman who was reported missing in December and later found dead in a state park.

Khalid White has been charged with first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, sexual assault and identity theft. He was booked into the Larimer County Jail Wednesday.

Kimberlee Graves, 41, was last seen at her home on Dec. 4. Four days later, a friend called police to request a welfare check. Officers stopped by her home but no one answered the door.

The friend entered the home a couple days later and found it ransacked. Fort Collins police believe that was a crime of opportunity as many people had a key to her home. Graves’ car was found abandoned in a parking garage on Dec. 13.

Detectives learned that White knew Graves and potentially had information about her disappearance, according to a statement from the Fort Collins Police Department. When he didn’t show for a probation appointment on Dec. 14, authorities issued an arrest warrant.

White, who was intercepted by Nevada police on Dec. 20 while on a commercial bus, had Graves’ identification and other items belonging to her in his possession, Fort Collins police say. He was arrested in connection with a probation violation.

On Jan. 10, a park ranger found Graves’ body in Lory State Park, Fort Collins police say. Police believe she was murdered either the night of Dec. 4 or early morning Dec. 5. The coroner determined that her death was caused by blunt force trauma and manual strangulation. There were signs of sexual assault.
