A pair of unlicensed radio stations that for years had broadcast music, community events and more from high in the foothills fell silent this week after reporting visits by the Federal Communicat­ions Commission. The operators of Nederland’s KNED 93.1 FM and Ward’s KWHR 90.5 FM shut down their over-the-air broadcasts Wednesday after what appears to be increased focus by the FCC on pirate radio in Boulder County.

Cadet found not guilty of sexual assault.

A senior has been acquitted on charges of sexual assault and abusive sexual contact. A court-martial found Cadet 1st Class Steven R. Fox not guilty Wednesday. The academy said the charges related to an incident involving a civilian at the school.

Two arrested in home invasion where body was found in residence.

Two home invasion suspects are being held after an incident in which investigat­ors found a body inside the residence. Jacob Taylor White, 23, and Leigha Page Ackerson, 24, both of Denver, have been identified as suspects in the case, according to the sheriff’s office. The name of the victim was not released.

School board abandons idea of arming staffers.

MANCOS» A Colorado school board has decided to drop its idea of arming school staffers after receiving comments opposing the idea. The Mancos School Board decided to abandon plans to pursue policies and procedures related to armed staff members and armed security officers at schools in a 4-1 vote. The board will remind school staff members to monitor doors.
