SOUTH KOREA HOSPITAL FIRE KILLS, INJURES

A fire tore through a hospital in South Korea early Friday, killing nearly 40 people and injuring dozens more, authoritie­s said.

The country’s deadliest blaze in a decade began around 7:35 a.m. in an emergency room on the first floor of the Sejong Hospital in the southeast city of Miryang.

By the time it was extinguish­ed roughly three hours later, at least 37 people were killed and 125 injured, an official at the National Fire Agency said.

Alaska officials want some areas out of drilling plan.

Alaska’s all-Republican congressio­nal delegation sent a letter Friday to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke requesting that most Alaska waters from the state’s Panhandle to the Bering Strait be removed from the proposed fiveyear drilling plan.

Fight continues over Manson body, estate.

Family and friends fighting over Charles Manson’s body and estate will have to take their cases to separate counties, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled Friday.

The battle over Manson’s estate will take place in Los Angeles County, Judge David J. Cowan said.

Manson was the mastermind of the gory rampage that claimed the life of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and six others during two August nights in Los Angeles in 1969.

The three people claiming to be the rightful heir to his estate are Manson’s grandson from Florida, a man who claims to be his last surviving son and his longtime pen pal .

All three are also expected to duke it out in court over Manson’s body — which has been in storage since he died at 83 in a Bakersfiel­d hospital Nov. 19.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump’s lawyer arranged a payment to Daniels to prevent her from talking about her alleged affair with Trump in 2006 before the 2016 presidenti­al election.

Texas men charged with stealing 650 guns.

MO.» Five Texas SPRINGFIEL­D, men are charged with stealing about 650 handguns and shotguns from a UPS lot in Missouri.

An affidavit from the case alleges the guns were to be delivered to Bass Pro Shops when they were stolen in October. Investigat­ors say the thieves moved trailers around the UPS lot in Springfiel­d, which provided access to the guns and other merchandis­e. The guns have not been recovered.

Democrats want to protect special counsel.

WASHINGTON» Congressio­nal Democrats on Friday demanded that lawmakers act to protect special counsel Robert Mueller III after revelation­s President Donald Trump sought to oust him last summer from overseeing the probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Several Democrats and one moderate Republican called for votes on Senate legislatio­n that would prevent presidents from firing special counsels unless a panel of three federal judges agreed, citing revelation­s Trump considered firing Mueller last June.
