SPARTANS WIN AMID TURMOIL

MICH.» Miles EAST LANSING, Bridges scored 24 points and No. 6 Michigan State beat Wisconsin 71-62 on Friday night, less than 12 hours after athletic director Mark Hollis announced his retirement amid the outcry over how the Big Ten school handled allegation­s against Larry Nassar.

The Spartans have won three straight after losing two of their previous three games. Wisconsin has lost five of its last six.

The University of Connecticu­t is the target of an NCAA investigat­ion into its men’s basketball program.

UConn president Susan Herbst said in a statement Friday the school will cooperate in a “thorough and transparen­t manner reflective of the model athletic and academic institutio­n we continuall­y strive to be.”

UConn didn’t specify the allegation­s and said it would have no further comment, but would “address and respond appropriat­ely as the inquiry moves forward.”

Hearst Connecticu­t Media, which first reported the investigat­ion, cited unidentifi­ed sources saying the inquiry was related to recruiting.

BOULDER» Ruthy Hebard scored 20 points, leading No. 7 Oregon to a 74-55 win over Colorado. Kennedy Leonard had 16 points and nine assists to lead the Buffs. Alexis Robinson was the only other CU player in double-figure scoring with 11 points.

State defeated Utah 69-58.
