PELICANS HOLD OFF ROCKETS BUT LOSE COUSINS TO INJURY

ORLEANS» Anthony Davis NEW scored 27 points, DeMarcus Cousins had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists before tearing his left Achilles, and the Pelicans survived a furious Houston rally for a 115-113 victory over the Rockets on Friday.

Cousins could not put weight on his left foot as he was helped to the locker room with less than 15 seconds left. He will miss the rest of the season.

Police officers used a stun gun on Milwaukee Bucks rookie guard Sterling Brown and arrested the 22-year-old Friday after a confrontat­ion at a Walgreens parking lot. Police Sgt. Timothy Gauerke says the department is investigat­ing what happened and the officers’ use of force. … The league introduced a plan to try and improve how players and referees get along during games. It comes during a season where one of the top story lines has been the ongoing deteriorat­ion of the relationsh­ip between the sides. The players and referees are set to meet in Los Angeles during All-Star weekend, a long-planned session that was scheduled with hopes of finding common ground. … Celtics guard Marcus Smart will miss about two weeks after cutting his right hand hitting a picture frame.
