KNIGHTS RALLY ON THE ROAD, BEAT CAPITALS

WASHINGTON» Alex Tuch scored with 5:12 remaining as the Golden Knights beat the Capitals 4-3 on Sunday in a high-profile matchup of division leaders.

The Knights rallied three times from a onegoal deficit before Tuch picked up his 10th goal of the season. Capitals goalie Philipp Grubauer tried to corral the loose puck, but knocked it into the net with his catching hand. Washington challenged the play for goaltender interferen­ce, but the goal stood.

Nicklas Backstrom gave Metropolit­an Divisionle­ading Washington a 3-2 lead just 52 seconds into the third period. Reilly Smith tied it when he scored his second goal of the game on a wrist shot from the left circle at 9:21.

Ryan Carpenter had a goal and an assist for Vegas, an expansion team that leads the Pacific Division. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 20 shots for the Knights.

Matt Niskanen had a goal and an assist for Washington. Chandler Stephenson also scored, and Grubauer finished with 27 saves.

SUNDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

Artturi Lehkonen broke out of a 24-game scoring slump with a pair of goals as the Canadiens defeated the Senators 4-1. Lehkonen had not scored since he had two goals Oct. 30 in an 8-3 rout of the Senators in Ottawa. Jeff Petry, with his third goal in two games, and Tomas Plekanec also scored for the Canadiens, who were coming off a win over Anaheim on Saturday. … Brent Burns had a goal and an assist as the Sharks beat the Hurricanes 3-1. Timo Meier and Chris Tierney scored, and Aaron Dell stopped 29 shots for this first win in two weeks. The Sharks never trailed as they won their second straight following a fourgame losing streak. Sebastain Aho scored for the Hurricanes, who missed a chance to move into sole possession of the Eastern Conference’s final playoff slot. Cam Ward made 23 saves and saw his personal three-game win streak snapped.
