FORMER QB ROMO TO PLAY IN PGA EVENT IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Cowboys quarterbac­k Tony Romo is making his PGA Tour debut next month in the Dominican Republic. As a player, not a broadcaste­r. Romo, now the lead NFL analyst for CBS, received a sponsor’s exemption to play in the Puntacana Resort & Club Championsh­ip on March 2225. The first-year event is held opposite the Dell Technologi­es Match Play, a World Golf Championsh­ips event that attracts the top 64 in the world.

“You never know how good you are until you go play and perform,” Romo said Wednesday. “Obviously, the odds going against these guys are not great. I think we all know that. But I think that’s what makes it really fun and enjoyable. I also think that the challenge that’s presented is what a competitor really wants.”

• The Detroit Lions hired Paul Pasqualoni to be Matt Patricia’s defensive coordinato­r.

• The San Francisco 49ers resigned defensive lineman Cassius Marsh to a two-year contract.

Hamlin is Team USA’s flag bearer.

-time Olympian and Olympic bronze medalist Erin Hamlin will be Team USA’s flag bearer for the opening ceremony of the PyeongChan­g Olympics, to be held Friday.

Hamlin was chosen by a vote of fellow Team USA members.

• Some of the Russian athletes seeking last-ditch admission to the Pyeongchan­g Olympics have arrived at the Games for their appeal hearings. Forty-five Russian athletes and two coaches are seeking to overturn the Internatio­nal Olympic Committee’s decision not to invite them to the games. If they win, it would force the IOC to accept athletes it considers to be linked to doping offenses.

• Wyoming’s Jaelin Kauf, 21, will compete this weekend in the Olympics. He is world’s top-ranked moguls skier.

Coach accused of molestatio­n.

A volunteer gymnastics coach in Missouri is accused of inappropri­ately touching three young female gymnasts, and police are concerned there are more victims.

David Schneider, 41, of Washington, Mo., was charged with three counts of child molestatio­n. The children alleged that Schneider touched their genitals while working with them as they practiced doing splits at the Kids in Motion gym in Washington, 50 miles west of St. Louis.

Authoritie­s said the crimes occurred between 2011 and 2014, when the victims were 7 or 8 years old.

The married father is jailed on $100,000 bond.

• Six Republican­s and 12 Democratic lawmakers signed onto legislatio­n to establish a special committee to investigat­e the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics handling of sexual abuse allegation­s against former sports doctor Larry Nassar.

“Cyborg” fight aiming for UFC 222.

The UFC is close to finalizing a female featherwei­ght title fight between Cris “Cyborg” Justino and Yana Kunitskaya at UFC 222 on March 3 in Las Vegas.

Max Holloway, UFC 222’s original headliner, was forced to pull out with an ankle injury.

Lawyer: Too much time has passed.

PA.» A lawyer for Graham HARRISBURG, Spanier argued to a Pennsylvan­ia appeals court that too much time had passed for the former Penn State president to be charged with endangerin­g the welfare of children over his handling of a complaint about Jerry Sandusky.
