FOSTER OUT ON BAIL FOLLOWING ANOTHER ARREST

- — The Associated Press

CALIF.» For the SANTA CLARA, second time in less than a month, 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster has been arrested.

The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno police confirmed Sunday night that Foster was arrested on charges related to domestic violence, threats and possession of an assault weapon.

Police responded to a disturbance call placed Sunday morning at a Los Gatos residence. Upon arrival, officers spoke to Foster and the alleged victim. The result of the initial investigation was to arrest Foster, 23.

Foster was then transported and booked at the Santa Clara County Main Jail, where he was held on $75,000 bail. He was released on bail Sunday night. The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police said the incident remains under investigation.

Sunday’s arrest comes on the heels of a Jan. 12 incident in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where he was charged with second-degree marijuana possession, a Class A misdemeanor in Alabama. He was released that night on $2,500 bond.

Both arrests follow a successful rookie season for Foster, in which he was second on the Niners in tackles, with 72 in 10 games.

Davis cleared after surgery.

Former Colts pro bowl cornerback Vontae Davis, who was released in November, was cleared from his core injury surgery done late in season.

Teams are expected to have interest in signing Davis before free agency, which officially begins March 14. Because he was released, he is permitted to sign before the league year officially begins.

Davis, 29, was released by the Colts on Nov. 9 after he sought additional medical opinions and opted to have season-ending surgery.

• Colts owner Jim Irsay is donating $25,000 to establish the Edwin Jackson Memorial Scholarship in memory of the linebacker who was killed in a traffic accident Feb. 4.
