GOOD NEWS FOR DAVIS: ELBOW OK

FLA.» An MRI on Orioles first baseman Chris Davis’ right elbow and forearm revealed no structural damage, manager Buck Showalter said Saturday.

Davis underwent the MRI after feeling more soreness in the flexor mass on Saturday than he had experience­d earlier in the week. Davis had been scheduled to play first base for the Orioles this past Wednesday, but he was switched to designated hitter due to his elbow.

Rays finalized a $4 million, one-year contract with free-agent outfielder Carlos Gomez.

The 32-year-old batted .255 with 17 home runs, 23 doubles, 51 RBIS and 13 stolen bases in 105 games for the Texas Rangers last season.

Strasburg looks strong.

Stephen Strasburg didn’t exactly ease into his first Grapefruit League start.

Washington’s big righthande­r flashed a couple of 98 mph fastballs and threw a few more at 97 in Washington’s 8-1 victory over Houston.

“Have some dad strength in there,” Strasburg said. “I guess it just shows all the hard work in the offseason, it’s still there. It’s just about being smart and listening to the arm, putting in the work in between starts

Feeling “free and easy.” Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaar­d doesn’t want anybody to freak out after he lit up the radar gun in his Grapefruit League debut last week.

Of his 22 pitches over two innings, Syndergaar­d threw 11 that registered 100 mph or more in his first start of the spring against the Astros on Monday.

On Saturday, Syndergaar­d pitched three innings in his second start. He allowed one run on a hit and a walk and struck out four in a 1-0 loss to the Marlins. His fastball once again topped 100 mph.

“I wasn’t overthrowi­ng. I was throwing free and easy,” Syndergaar­d said. “That’s not something I can worry about. I was under control.”

Wilson not neglecting.

The Seahawks quarterbac­k didn’t neglect his football duties during his week at spring training with the Yankees.

Wilson did his offseason gridiron drills each morning with his trainer before taking the baseball field.

“I’m definitely not sitting on the couch,” Wilson said.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are heavy days for Wilson, with Wednesday and Saturday light days and Sunday typically off.
