ALDON SMITH TURNS SELF IN, IS RELEASED ON $30,000 BOND

Raiders player Aldon Smith surrendere­d to police Tuesday who said he is a suspect in a domestic violence incident reported three days earlier.

Smith was booked on four misdemeano­r charges of domestic violence and related counts and released on $30,000 bail from San Francisco County Jail.

San Francisco police had been looking for Smith since he fled a home Saturday night after someone called 911 to report a domestic violence incident.

Jail records don’t show if he is represente­d by an attorney. The Raiders released Smith on Monday.

He had been on the suspended list since late 2015 for violating the NFL’s policy on substance abuse.

• Five NFL players were given the franchise tag, with only Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell getting the exclusive tag.

Bell, who has been adamant about not playing under the tag for a second straight season, can’t negotiate with any other teams. Pittsburgh must offer him the average of the top five running backs’ salaries. Both sides plan to continue negotiatin­g.

Also getting franchise tags were Miami receiver Jarvis Landry, Detroit defensive end Ezekiel Ansah, Dallas defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, and Los Angeles Rams safety Lamarcus Joyner. Since the Rams used their tag on Joyner, receiver Sammy Watkins will become a free agent.

The tagged players can talk with other teams, but their current team gets compensati­on if they leave.

The only player given the transition tag was Chicago cornerback Kyle Fuller.

Free agency begins March 14. • Running back Chris Ivory agreed to sign a two-year contract with the Buffalo Bills.

• Former Ohio State center Billy Price, a projected first-round pick in April’s draft, had pectoral surgery after a weightlift­ing injury at the scouting combine.

Hochuli, Triplette hang it up.

YORK» NFL referees Ed Hochuli NEW and Jeff Triplette are retiring.

One of the replacemen­ts will be former back judge Shawn Hochuli, Ed’s son. The other is former side judge Alex Kemp. The two new referees each joined the NFL in 2014.

4 Bears headed to championsh­ips.

INDIANAPOL­IS» Northern Colorado’s Rico Montoya and Jacob Seely will join Keilan Torres and Dylan Gabel in Cleveland for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championsh­ips.

Montoya and Seely are two of 47 wrestlers to receive at-large sections for the meet.

Sharma headed to Masters.

Two days after Sharma held the 54-hole lead in his first World Golf Championsh­ips appearance, the 21year-old from India accepted a special invitation to play in the Masters next month.

He will be the fourth Indian to play the Masters, and the second to receive a special invitation.

• Defending Masters champion and world No. 11 Sergio Garcia committed to play in the PGA’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans team event in April.

• Tiger Woods is paired with Jordan Spieth, Zach Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Vaughn Taylor and Shane Lowry at the Valspar Championsh­ip that starts Thursday.

WNBA’s Mercury gets January.

The Phoenix Mercury swapped point guards.

The Mercury traded Danielle Robinson to the Minnesota Lynx while acquiring Briann January from the Indiana Fever.

Phoenix also sent the No. 8 pick in this year’s WNBA draft to the Fever and received Minnesota’s No. 12 pick.
