RELEASED INMATE BACK IN CUSTODY

An undocument­ed man suspected of killing the driver of an 18-wheeler in a hit-and-run crash is in the custody of Immigratio­n and Customs Enforcemen­t, Denver7 reported.

According to records posted on the ICE’s website, Ivan Zamarripa-Castaneda, 26, was listed in custody as of Friday afternoon. ICE told Denver7 that Zamarripa-Castaneda walked into their offices on his own.

The Mexican national, wanted by ICE for possible deportatio­n, was arrested and booked into the Denver County Jail on vehicular homicide charges after a deadly hit-and-crash on March 4.

Less than a week later, Zamarripa-Castaneda paid a $25,000 bond and was released from Denver jail despite an ICE detainer hold placed on the suspect.

The shooting happened before 5:30 p.m. in the area of East 13th Avenue and Sable Boulevard.

At 6:05 p.m., police said the shooting was a fatality and the suspect has been taken into custody.

Police in Aurora responded to two other shootings on Friday, one in the area of East Mississipp­i Avenue and South Peoria Street in which a woman was taken to a local hospital. Shots were also fired at the Town Center of Aurora.

Paso County coroner has identified a suspect fatally shot by Colorado Springs police following an allegedly armed standoff at a Travel Star Motel.

He was identified as Corky Lee Oliver, 31.
