Curry is cleared to return to practice

OAKLAND, CALIF.» Stephen Curry has been medically cleared to resume full practice beginning Wednesday with the hope he can return from his latest right ankle injury later in the week.

Curry was re-evaluated Tuesday as scheduled and the Warriors said the two-time MVP is making good progress. Golden State hosts Atlanta on Friday, so if all goes well Curry could be back for that game or Sunday’s home matchup with Utah.

He rolled his ankle driving for a layup in the first quarter of a win against the Spurs on March 8 and has missed the last six games. He had already missed 11 games in December with the sprained right ankle, which he injured again March 2 at Atlanta.

Meanwhile, Klay Thompson is scheduled to be re-examined Thursday as he works back from a fractured right thumb.

Irving to get second opinion.

BOSTON» Celtics all-star point guard Kyrie Irving will seek a second opinion on his ailing left knee, coach Brad Stevens said.

There continues to be no structural damage in Irving’s knee, and that there is still a strong belief that rest will be the best remedy to facilitate his eventual return to the lineup.

Rockets’ Green fined for shove.

Rockets guard Gerald Green was fined $25,000 by the NBA for shoving Timberwolv­es center Gorgui Dieng on Sunday.

Green was ejected in the fourth quarter of the Rockets’ 129-120 victory for the shove.

Magic enshrine great McGrady.

ORLANDO, FLA.» Tracy McGrady is a Basketball Hall of Famer, meaning he has already reached the pinnacle of accolades celebratin­g his playing career.

That doesn’t mean he wasn’t deeply moved by the latest gesture.

McGrady was enshrined Tuesday into the Orlando Magic Hall of Fame, a long-deserved hat tip to what the Central Florida native accomplish­ed during his 295-game tenure with the team. The twotime NBA scoring champion went into the Basketball Hall of Fame this past September.
