EX-OFFICER FROM MEXICO SENTENCED TO 72 YEARS

former police officer from Mexico, who was in the United States illegally, was sentenced Wednesday to 72 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting one Aurora woman and attempting to sexually assault a second victim.

Ricardo Corral-Venegas, 27, was found guilty by an Arapahoe County jury on Dec. 6 of multiple charges, according to the district attorney’s office.

District Judge Jeffrey Holmes sentenced Corral-Venegas to 32 years for sex assault, 16 years for kidnapping, 16 years for burglary, four years for attempted sex assault and four years for attempted burglary, according to a news release. The various concurrent and consecutiv­e sentences resulted in 72 years.

“The rape and attempted sexual assault of these victims at the hands of an evil serial rapist is a direct consequenc­e of the failure of our federal government to secure our southern border,” District Attorney George Brauchler said.

Ex-security guard gets year in jail for sexually assaulting student.

A former security guard at Grandview High School in Aurora was sentenced Wednesday to one year in jail for sexually assaulting and exploiting a student.

Broderick Lundie, 30, also was sentenced to eight years of sex-offender probation. Lundie allegedly had oral sex and exchanged nude pictures with the student during the 2017 spring semester, according to his arrest affidavit.

Lundie was arrested in May 2017 after the family of the 16-yearold student contacted police.

Suspect in fatal shooting in Aurora ID’d by police.

A suspect in a fatal shooting has been identified, and police seek the public’s help in finding him.

Joseph Goudy Lugo, 39, is wanted in the shooting death Tuesday of 21-year-old Potros Mabany, according to police.

Two victims, one survived, were shot about 8:15 a.m. outside an apartment building at 1097 South Evanston Way, police said.

The other victim has been released from a hospital.

Police describe Lugo as 5-foot-9 and 245 pounds, with long, black hair, brown eyes, a tattoo of a name on the left front of his forehead and smaller tattoos, also names, on his left and right temples.
