Name the 2018 Denver Comic Con brew and win free beer for a year
As long as the Denver Comic Con has been around, there’s been beer to go with it.
The DCC and Breckenridge Brewery on Wednesday launched the 2018 Denver Comic Con beernaming contest. The seventh annual competition invites fans to come up with a creative moniker for the convention’s official brew.
Suggestions can be made on Breckenridge’s Facebook and Twitter or the brewery’s blog. The owner of the winning entry gets a prize package that includes free beer for a year and a DCC tap handle. As in previous years, a local artist will create a custom design based on the name for a special pint glass.
This year’s beer is a 5.1 percent ABV raspberry witbier. Breckenridge Brewery describes it as: “A time-honored, Belgianstyle ale with a tart pink twist. Brewed with unmalted wheat, orange zest, coriander and fresh raspberry puree, this unfiltered, light-bodied beer has fruity notes of raspberry and citrus, a touch of spice, and a pink blush of color. Refreshing. Surprising. Sprightly. Whimsical.”
Entries will be accepted until 9 p.m. March 26. Five finalists will be named on March 27 and placed in a fan vote.
Previous beer names include “The Fantastic Pour” (2012), “The Caped Brewsader” (2013), “Brews Wayne” (2014), “Hulk’s Mash” (2015), “Snapericot” (2016) and “I am Brewt” (2017).
