MAN ACCUSED OF CHAINING WOMAN GETS 6 YEARS
JUNCTION» A Colorado GRAND man accused of keeping a woman chained in his basement over the course of several months has been sentenced to six years in prison and three years of parole in exchange for his guilty plea.
The Daily Sentinel reports that Claude Lee Wilkerson was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to false imprisonment and second-degree assault.
He was arrested in February 2016 on suspicion of holding a woman as a sex slave for months.
Mesa County prosecutor David Waite said the case became “less and less sensational” as prosecutors failed to get collaborating statements from the victim and as other evidence did not materialize.
Second driver ticketed for “rolling coal” at protesters during Steamboat’s March for Our Lives.
Police have ticketed a second driver for “rolling coal” during Saturday’s March For Our Lives demonstration in front of the Routt County Courthouse.
Gov. John Hickenlooper in May signed the new “rolling coal” law, which “prohibits engaging in a nuisance exhibition of motor vehicle exhaust, which is the act of knowingly blowing black smoke through one or more exhaust pipes attached to a motor vehicle.”
Demonstrators were harassed by drivers in several vehicles during the event. The protesters provided police with images of the vehicles involved.
Soon after the demonstration, a 20-year-old Routt County man was issued a $113.50 ticket for “rolling coal.”
Police find woman bound, cold, alive in small dumpster.
Vail woman with her wrists zip-tied was found by police officers early Tuesday in a small dumpster in the city’s Sandstone neighborhood. The 31year-old woman was conscious and breathing when officers arrived at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday, but she was unable to talk, police said. The woman had assorted injuries, which are being investigated, police said. The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital.
Suspect in bowling alley shooting is identified by police.
TREE» A suspect LONE in a shooting at a bowling alley was identified Wednesday by police. An arrest warrant has been issued for Peter Viet Le, 24, in connection with a March 22 incident at Bowlero, 9255 Kimmer Drive, police said. Police describe Le as an Asian man about 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The victim of the shooting is in stable condition and is recovering, police said. Anyone with information on Le’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 303-339-8150.
Skier dies at Breckenridge resort.

The sheriff’s office has confirmed a Denver skier died Friday at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Deputies responded to a report of a skier who collided with a tree on Peak 9. George Constantine, 72, was taken to the Breckenridge Medical Clinic, where he was pronounced dead. The county coroner’s office said Constantine was wearing a helmet. He collided with a tree while skiing and died of blunt-force injuries.
