Broncos cornerback Chris Harris doesn’t know how Denver will use its No. 5 overall NFL draft pick.

But he does know what position the team should not select.

“Not a quarterback,” Harris said Tuesday at Dove Valley. “We’re trying to win now, man. We’re not trying to wait.”

Harris, a three-time Pro Bowler who received $3 million in additional contract incentives this offseason, also gave a clear vote of confidence in newly acquired quarterback Case Keenum.

“Everybody I’ve talked to, the receivers, they’re excited about him,” Harris said.

And, while several top passing prospects might be available at No. 5, Harris explained his rationale for not picking a quarterback.

“We need somebody who is going to come in and play now,” Harris said. “Whether that be (Saquon) Barkley, (Bradley) Chubb … the guard (Quenton Nelson) from Notre Dame. One of those three guys, we know one of those guys can come in and play right now.

“We talk about it all the time. We want somebody who wants to come in and play. We know that when you pick a top-five pick, you expect those guys to play for 10 years and be a Pro Bowler for a couple of the years. That’s what we expect out of this pick, and hopefully we get a guy that can be an impact player.”

Draft party.

Broncos linebacker Todd Davis will host the team’s eighth annual Denver Draft Party at Celebrity Lanes in Centennial on Thursday to benefit his A+ Living foundation, which lists its mission as making “our world greater by helping to awaken every child’s greatness empowering our leaders of tomorrow.”

Davis, undrafted out of Sacramento State in 2014, will be joined by teammates starting at 5 p.m. as the countdown to the Broncos’ No. 5 pick begins. More information about the event can be found at denverdraftparty.com.

“It’s kind of funny being undrafted to host a draft party, but it’s going to be fun,” Davis said. “I think it’s exciting to see who we put our faith in at No. 5 and I think we’re going to get a great player whichever way we choose. I’m just excited to see who we go with.

“It doesn’t matter to me. I say, ‘In Elway we trust.’”
