Mcbean’s late goal not enough for Rapids vs. N.Y.

Daniel Royer and Derrick Etienne scored to help the New York Red Bulls beat the Colorado Rapids 2-1 on Saturday night.

Royer opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a left-footed half volley to finish Bradley Wright-phillips’ wide cross.

Etienne was initially called offside on a goal in the 76th minute, but video review reversed the call and the Red Bulls (6-3-0) led 2-0.

Jack Mcbean pulled the Rapids (2-5-2) to 2-1 with a follow-up on Shkelzen Gashi’s saved attempt in the 85th minute.

The Rapids have dropped four in a row.

San Jose 3, Minnesota 1.

MINNEAPOLI­S» Chris Wondolowsk­i came on in the 55th minute and had a goal and an assist in San Jose’s 3-1 victory over Minnesota.

Wondolowsk­i scored on a penalty kick in the 78th minute. He has 132 goals for the Earthquake­s, the most in MLS history for a single franchise. Danny Hoesen and Christian Ramirez also scored to help San Jose (25-2) snap a seven-game winless streak. Magnus Eriksson scored for Minnesota (4-7-0).

Philadelph­ia 2, Montreal 0. MONTREAL» Cory Burke and Haris Medunjanin scored Philadelph­ia’s first two away goals of the season and the Union beat Montreal with each side down a man.

Burke headed in a pass from Raymon Gaddis in the 43rd minute, and David Accam fed Medunjanin for a goal off the left post in the 88th. Dallas 3, Los Angeles 1.

FRISCO, TEXAS» Roland Lamah scored two goals and Mauro Diaz had three assists to help FC Dallas beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-2 on Saturday.

Maximilian­o Urruti rifled a right-footer inside the near post past a diving David Bingham to give FC Dallas (4-1-4) a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute. Diaz tapped it to Urruti, who dribbled around a defender and finished from well outside the area.

Lamah doubled the advantage in the 44th, sidenettin­g a feed from Diaz. Lamah, who perfectly timed his run, slipped behind the defense and put away a through-ball, which split two defenders, from Diaz.

Columbus 3, Chicago 0.

OHIO» Gyasi COLUMBUS,

Zardes scored twice to take the MLS scoring lead and Columbus beat Chicago.

Zardes drew a penalty in the 27th minute when Chicago’s Kevin Ellis grabbed him from behind by the arm. Federico Higuain opened the scoring a minute later, converting from the spot with a rising shot into the top of the net.

New England 3, Toronto 2. MASS.»

FOXBOROUGH, Cristian Penilla scored twice in the first seven minutes and New Englandhel­d off Toronto FC.

Sebastian Giovinco pulled defending MLS Cup champion Toronto within a goal on a penalty kick in the 89th minute. But before the following kick off, the Italian grabbed Wilfried Zahibo’s face and was sent off for violent conduct.

Salt Lake 3, D.C. 2. SANDY, UTAH» Jefferson Savarino and Albert Rusnak each had a goal and an assist in Real Salt Lake’s 3-2 victory over 10-man D.C. United on Saturday night.

D.C. United went down a man in the 22nd minute when Joseph Mora was initially shown a yellow card for a violent tackle, but was then sent off after video review.
