President Trump’s move on Iran lauded, DU professor criticized
Re: “Trump’s dangerous decision on Iran,” May 13 guest commentary.
The purpose of our foreign policy is not to spread sweetness, light and understanding throughout the world, particularly to those chanting “death to America.” University of Denver professor of International Studies David Goldfischer believes otherwise.
He believes President Trump is foolish for pulling out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. The good professor does acknowledge logic in distrust of Iran. He admits their murderous foreign policy threatens international security.
President Trump understands Ayatollah Khomeini’s motivation for nukes is tied to a desire for dominance over Islam. For credibilitional ty, Iran must be able to project fear within the region. Nuclear proliferation is a necessary response to this threat. The permanent interest of our country is not served by Iran’s eventual enrichment of uranium to weapons grade. The JCPOA posed a threat to our country by a selfdefiant, self-sworn enemy. Our president wisely decertified this lunacacy. Forrest Monroe, Lone Tree

David Goldfischer, supposedly a professor, should lose his teaching certificate for being ignorant and short-sighted regarding Iran. I hope he read the article by John Bolton, which actually made sense and reflects the real world. William F. Hineser, Arvada
