PREGNANT WOMAN SAYS MAN PUNCHED HER ON PLANE

FLA.» A deaf ORLANDO, woman who is 5 months pregnant says a man punched her in the stomach and hit her service dog during a confrontat­ion on an airplane as it arrived at a Florida airport.

Hazel Ramirez says she and her partner, Matthew Silvay, were confronted Thursday by Timothy Manley, who objected to their service dog, Zariel, a Great Dane.

Manley says the dog triggered his wife’s allergies as the flight from Colorado Springs to Orlando was making its descent.

A police report says Manley punched the dog, upsetting Ramirez and Silvay, who yelled at Manley. Ramirez says she was punched during a subsequent physical confrontat­ion with Manley.

Officers referred the case to the FBI.

Child released from hospital after bear attack.

JUNCTION» A 5-yearold GRAND girl who was attacked by a bear outside her western Colorado home has been released from a hospital. St. Mary’s Medical Center says Kimberly Cyr was released Friday, five days after the attack.

The girl’s mother said Kimberly was attacked after she went outside to check on sounds she thought were coming from her dog outside at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The mother screamed at the bear, which dropped the girl and left.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers killed the bear a few hours later. The agency said DNA confirmed the bear was the one that attacked the child.

Colorado, Texas, Washington getting new Army adviser units.

The Army is creating new units in Colorado, Texas and Washington to advise and assist other countries’ military forces. The Army said Friday the three security force assistance brigades will be at Fort Carson; Fort Hood, Texas; and Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Wash. The units are designed to take over the adviser role from combat units. The Army said they can serve as the core of new combat units if needed.

The first security assistance brigade and a training academy were created last year at Fort Benning, Georgia. Another was placed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The Army has said the units would have about 500 commission­ed and non-commission­ed officers. Members of Colorado’s congressio­nal delegation say the units will have about 800 soldiers total.

Woman faces attemptedm­urder charge in stabbing.

LONGMONT» A woman is accused of attempted murder after police say she stabbed a man Thursday night at her apartment on Crisman Drive.

Desiree Marie Royval, 34, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in the second degree, firstdegre­e assault, felony menacing and tampering with physical evidence.

According to an arrest affidavit, police went to the apartment in the 700 block of Crisman Drive at 10:20 p.m. after a passer-by told an officer there was a man pounding on its patio door.

When the officer arrived, he found the patio door open and Albert Mason, 58, kneeling down and covered in blood. According to the affidavit, Mason yelled, “She (expletive) stabbed me! I’m bleeding out!”
