The 2018 Colorado high school state track meet concluded Saturday at Jefferson County Stadium. Here are notable results and individual performanc­es from the third day in Lakewood, where champions were crowned in sprinting and hurdling races, relays and field events:

They had to check the tape in this one as the Class 4A boys 200-meter dash came down to the wire among Harrison sophomore Tyrese Vanhorne, Pueblo East junior Luc Andrada and Standley Lake junior Tyler Williams. Vanhorne’s lean at the line proved to be the difference in a race that had the crowd roaring, with his time of 21.630 topping those of Andrada (21.653) and Williams (21.657) for the championsh­ip.

Thunder senior Lauren Gale won the Class 4A 200 meters in 24.05 over Valor Christian junior

Anna Hall (24.12), as well as the 400 dash in 54.23 over Mead junior Abby Glynn (56.17). The Colorado State commitment followed up those performanc­es with a championsh­ip in the 100 meters in the afternoon, her time of 11.79 topping Niwot senior Mary Gillett (12.21), who also had strong overall showing at the state meet.

Rocky Mountain senior Gabriella Mcdonald tossed 42 feet, 8½ inches to secure her third straight shot put championsh­ip, as the CSU pledge held off a strong push from runner-up Leilah Vigil of

Grandview (40-7½). On the boys side, Highlands Ranch junior Drake Nugent, also an All-colorado offensive lineman for the Falcons in football, captured his second straight title with a heave of 55-9½.

Fort Collins junior Allam Bushara upset the defending champion, Fountain-fort Carson senior Jequan Hogan, with a jump of 49-9¼ to best Hogan’s effort of 48-1½. Bushara’s teammates rounded out the top four, as junior Micaylon Moore (Friday’s long jump champion) and senior Spencer Purnell finished third and

fourth, respective­ly. On the girls side, Cherry Creek senior Aumni Ashby (40-11½) held off Cherokee Trail senior and Arizona State commit Sydnee Larkin (40-8½), the defending two-time champion who won the long jump title Saturday.

In the Class 4A 300 hurdles, Valor Christian junior Dane Palazzo and Pine Creek senior Wyatt Wieland finished in an exact tie for the state championsh­ip with a time of 38.007 seconds. Wieland’s teammate, senior Daniel Fuhr, took third at 38.59.
