DODGERS PLACE CINGRANI ON DL

-

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed left-handed reliever Tony Cingrani on the disabled list Thursday with discomfort in his throwing shoulder.

Cingrani left Wednesday night’s 11-9 loss to Pittsburgh after making just six pitches in the eighth inning and complained to manager Dave Roberts afterward about pain in the shoulder. Cingrani is 1-2 with a 4.84 ERA in 27 appearances for the defending National League champions.

The Dodgers called up reliever Pedro Baez to fill Cingrani’s spot. Baez was optioned on Wednesday, but never even made it to the airport in Pittsburgh.

Ohtani exits early again with blister on pitching hand.

Shohei Ohtani was removed from his start for the Los Angeles Angels after four innings Wednesday night because of a blister on his pitching hand.

It was the second time this season Ohtani left a game due to a blister on his right middle finger. He gave up three runs in two innings before exiting against Boston on April 17.

This time, Ohtani allowed one run on four hits and three walks during Los Angeles’ 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia did not believe Ohtani’s blister was as bad as the one against the Red Sox. However, the skipper refused to commit when asked if Ohtani would be able to make his next start as scheduled.
