Jeremy Webster, 23, is being held in the investigation of firstdegree murder and other charges after a road rage incident that killed a 13-year-old and injured three others.

An Adams District Court judge denied bond Monday morning for a 23yearold man who allegedly fatally shot a teenager and shot and critically injured his mother and younger brother.

Jeremy Webster is being held at the Adams County Detention Facility for investigation of firstdegree murder, criminal attempt to commit murder with extreme indifference and firstdegree assault, according to a search warrant affidavit.

Thirteenyearold Vaughn Bigelow is dead. His 41yearold mother, Meghan, and 8yearold brother, Asa, remain in critical condition at a hospital.

A bystander, John Gale, is recuperating from gunshot wounds to both arms.

The roadrage encounter, which started at a busy street corner and ended at a Westminster office complex June 14, took no more than 10 minutes.

Family and friends of the Bigelows have raised more than $100,000 on a GoFundMe page.

A message on the page said that Meghan Bigelow and her three children were on their way to a routine dental appointment when she became part of a road rage encounter.

“Currently Meghan and her youngest son (8) are in critical condition and fighting for their lives… Please help us in raising money for this incredible family as they are experiencing such are tragic time and have a long road of recovery ahead of them,” the site says.

Webster told Westminster police detectives that he began taking a new prescription medication for mental health issues Thursday hours before the fatal encounter, according to a search warrant affidavit.

At around 3 p.m. Thursday, Webster and Meghan Bigelow had some type of angry encounter in traffic near Sheridan Boulevard and Turnpike Drive. Webster allegedly followed the Bigelows into a complex of commercial stores and offices where Bigelow parked in front of Children’s Dentistry, 5250 West 80th Ave.

Webster parked in the middle of the parking lot, jumped out of his car and argued briefly with Meghan Bigelow before allegedly pulling out a Glock 19 and shooting her, Vaughn and Asa. Only her son Cooper managed to run to a building and get inside without being wounded. Webster allegedly also shot Gale, who was sitting with his 9yearold daughter in his truck.

About three hours later, authorities arrested Webster near Castle Rock while he was apparently driving home on Interstate 25. In a Westminster police interview room, Webster told police that his Glock handgun was in the trunk of his car and his prescription drugs were at home.

“Jeremy eventually admitted that he was the one who shot Meghan, both of her children and John Gale,” the affidavit says.

Before Thursday’s incident, Webster, who lives in Colorado Springs, had never been charged with a crime in Colorado and had never seen the four people he is accused of shooting, Westminster police say.
