RAPIDS TO HOST BOCA JUNIORS FOR A FRIENDLY MATCH

The Boca Juniors are coming to Colorado. The Colorado Rapids will face the Argentine pro team in a friendly match at 7 p.m. July 24 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

“We are excited to be hosting such a historic team as Boca Juniors,” Rapids executive vice president and general manager Pádraig Smith said in a news release. “They are one of the best known clubs in the world and we’re thrilled to give our fans the opportunit­y to be part of this terrific matchup.”

In their 113-year history, the Boca Juniors have claimed 18 internatio­nal titles, six Copa Libertador­es and 44 national titles — including the last two.

Minnesota gets regular PGA Tour stop in 7-year deal.

The PGA Tour will soon be making a regular stop in Minnesota. Long host to the 3M Championsh­ip, a thriving tournament on the senior circuit, the TPC Twin Cities course in suburban Minneapoli­s has landed a spot on the main PGA Tour with a seven-year contract starting in 2019.

The 2019 dates for the 3M Open will not be confirmed until next month when the PGA Tour reveals its full schedule.

Florida State’s Martin to retire after 2019 season.

Mike Martin will take one more shot at getting Florida State a national championsh­ip in baseball.

The university announced on Monday that 2019 will be Martin’s 40th and final season as the Seminoles’ coach. The 74-year old Martin, who became college baseball’s career wins leader in May, has a 1,987-713-4 record and .736 win percentage.

Former NHL coach Tippett expanding role in Seattle.

Former NHL coach Dave Tippett is expanding his responsibi­lities with the group looking to put an expansion team in Seattle. The former coach of the Arizona Coyotes and Dallas Stars has signed on as senior adviser for Seattle Hockey Partners LLC.

Seattle is in the middle of the expansion process with the goal of renovating KeyArena and starting up for the 2020-21 season. NHL Commission­er Gary Bettman says the league’s board of governors could vote to approve a 32nd franchise as soon as this fall but has emphasized there is no specific timetable.

Bahr, last living member of U.S. soccer team that upset England, is dead.

Walter Bahr, the last living member of the U.S. soccer team that upset England at the 1950 World Cup, had died at age 91.

Bahr died Monday in Boalsburg, Pennsylvan­ia, from complicati­ons that resulted from a broken hip.

A midfielder who scored one goal in 19 internatio­nal appearance­s, Bahr collected a throw-in from Ed McIlvenny on June 29, 1950, at Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and took a shot from about 25 yards that Joe Gaetjens deflected past goalkeeper Bert Williams with a diving header late in the first half. The U.S. held on for a 1-0 win, a triumph portrayed in the 2005 movie “The Game of Their Lives.”

Turkey charges father of NBA’s Kanter as terror group member.

» A Turkish court has accepted an indictment charging the father of NBA player Enes Kanter with “membership in a terror group,” the country’s official news agency reported Monday.

The indictment followed an investigat­ion of Mehmet Kanter, and prosecutor­s planned to seek his conviction and a prison term of five to 10 years at trial, Anadolu Agency said.

It’s unclear when the trial in western Tekirdag province would begin.

Enes Kanter, who plays for the New York Knicks, is a follower of a U.S.-based Turkish cleric who the government accuses of mastermind­ing a failed military coup in 2016.
