Keenum connects with Sanders for a 60-yard pass play

Linebacker Josey Jewell (hamstring) and wide receiver Kenny Bell (hamstring). Coach Vance Joseph said both injuries occurred in the rookie-only part of training camp earlier this week. Of Jewell, projected to be a backup inside linebacker, Joseph said: “He’s got a slight pull. It’s minor. We’re being cautious. We want him to get totally healthy.”

New injuries
None. Safety Will Parks was shaken up trying to break up a pass but returned to practice.
Top play
During 11-on-11 work, WR Emmanuel Sanders got by CB Chris Harris down the left sideline and caught QB Case Keenum’s long pass for what would have been a 60-yard touchdown.

RB Phillip Lindsay.
attempts. He caught punts. He lined up at receiver and won his matchup. A terrific first day for the undrafted rookie.
WR Emmanuel Sanders.
On consecutive plays working with Keenum, he ran an in-breaking route and made a sliding catch, followed by the aforementioned touchdown.
Defensive line awareness.
The line batted down three passes, one each by defensive ends Derek Wolfe, Demarcus Walker and Paul Boyette.
Thumbs-down
No 1-on-1 receiver vs. cornerback drills. Looks like we’ll have to wait a day or three for that.
WR Daesean Hamilton.
During 7on-7, he ran a quick slant and caught Lynch’s pass in-stride, but fumbled. Safety Su’a Cravens recovered.
WR Tim Patrick.
Also during 7-on-7, he dropped a Lynch pass, earning himself 10 push-ups.
Odds and ends
• Outside linebacker Shaq Barrett intercepted a Lynch pass that appeared to be deflected into the air by Walker.
• Ray worked as the first-team strongside linebacker ahead of rookie Bradley Chubb. Ray said he was “shocked,” when his second opinion equaled no additional wrist surgery last month. “Coming out here for practice, I didn’t feel any pain,” he said. “That’s the best part. Now that that’s taken away, I can focus on just playing and not trying to protect my wrist.” Asked if Ray will be full-go or eased into camp, Joseph said: “Shane Ray is going.”
• Peyton Manning, along with his two children, watched practice from the sideline. Manning spent several minutes visiting with general manager John Elway and offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave.
• New wide receiver Philly Brown, signed Friday, practiced. “He’s a pro’s pro,” Joseph said. “He’s a tough guy. I told him, ‘Hey, bud, you’re here to make our team, not just be a camp body.’”
• The first offensive line group: LT Garett Bolles, LG Ron Leary, C Matt Paradis, RG Connor Mcgovern and RT Jared Veldheer. Leary and Veldheer did not take every first-team 11-on-11 snap, replaced by Max Garcia and Billy Turner, respectively. Paradis also took snaps off and Mcgovern moved over the center and Menelik Watson played left guard.
• The second offensive line group: LT Cyrus Kounandjio, LG Garcia, C J.J. Dielman, RG Watson and RT Turner.
• Lindsay and WR Isaiah Mckenzie were the only two players who caught punts. During the offseason program, Hamilton and cornerback Brandon Langley joined Lindsay and Mckenzie. Looks like it’s a two-player competition.
• The running back rotation in the offseason program was about the same to start camp. Devonate Booker was first up, followed by Royce Freeman with the first team. De’angelo Henderson received a second-team rushing attempt and David Williams with the third team. Freeman also worked with the third team.
• Keenum and OLB Von Miller received the two biggest cheers when they ran onto the practice field. Miller acknowledged the ovation and later threw a pass to a young fan that was about halfway up the grass berm. The fan threw the football back.
• In the final 7-on-7 period, Lindsay caught a pass from Keenum after he pump-faked. It would have been a touchdown down the left side. Lynch lofted a nice pass to TE Austin Traylor, who had beaten LB Zaire Alexander on a corner-type route.
