TORNADOES IN, AROUND BRUSH DESTROY HANGAR

- — Denver Post staff reports

Three tornadoes struck late Sunday afternoon within a five-minute span at different locations in and around Brush, including one that destroyed a hangar and overturned an airplane.

Trees were uprooted and power was interrupted, by what the National Weather Service confirmed was one of three EF2 tornadoes. No injuries or deaths have been reported by authorities.

At Brush Airport, an airplane hangar was destroyed and an airplane was flipped over on top of another plane, said Todd Dankers, meteorologist for the National Weather Services in Boulder.

“It was quite an active cell,” Dankers said Monday. “It could have been one very big supercell that created a line of tornadoes.”

The first tornado was reported at 4:48 p.m. Sunday, the second at 4:49 p.m. and a third at 4:50 p.m., Dankers said.

Residents were instructed to clear branches that are blocking streets to allow cars to travel without obstruction.

The tornadoes knocked out electricity to water well fields.
