U.S. PENDING HOME SALES ROSE 0.9 PERCENT IN JUNE

» More Americans WASHINGTON signed contracts to purchase homes in June compared to May, but the volume of pending sales has slipped over the past year.

The National Associatio­n of Realtors said Monday that its pending home sales index rose 0.9 percent last month to 106.9. But on a yearly basis, pending home sales have fallen 2.5 percent.

There are signs that home-buying has stalled in recent months due to the mix of rising prices, higher mortgage rates and a dearth of sales listings.

Report: Keystone XL would have no major impact on Nebraska.

The U.S. State Department released a draft study Monday of the pipeline’s potential environmen­tal impact in Nebraska, where opponents have repeatedly thwarted the project. The study is now subject to public input through Aug. 29 before it’s finalized.

The announceme­nt marks another step in pipeline developer TransCanad­a’s quest to finish the 1,184-mile oil pipeline, although the company continues to face obstacles in Nebraska.

Georgia jet fuel tax halted, months after Delta, NRA fight.

Monday made good on his vow to restore a tax cut on jet fuel sales that was previously killed by state GOP lawmakers irate with Delta Air Lines for ending a discount for members of the National Rifle Associatio­n.

Republican Gov. Nathan Deal issued an executive order suspending collection of the state’s 4 percent sales tax on jet fuel beginning Aug. 1. The Georgia General Assembly could reinstate the tax when it reconvenes for the 2019 legislativ­e session in January.

Earlier this year, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle effectivel­y killed a proposed sales tax exemption on jet fuel to punish Delta for ending a discount program for NRA members in the wake of the deadly school shootings in Parkland, Florida, in February.

Tyson cites tariffs in cutting earnings outlook for the year.

» Tyson Foods is SPRINGDALE, ARK. citing higher tariffs and uncertaint­y about trade policies in cutting its profit forecast.

The Springdale, Ark.-based company said Monday the tariffs are primarily affecting chicken and pork prices, in the U.S. and elsewhere. President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on a range of goods, and China retaliated with tariffs on U.S. exports.

Tariffs on steel and aluminum have pressured automakers, and General Motors also cut its outlook for the year.

German union says Ryanair pilots vote to strike over pay.

BERLIN

German pilots at budget airline Ryanair have voted to strike unless a dispute over pay is resolved in the coming days.

The Vereinigun­g Cockpit labor union said Monday that 96 percent of the Ryanair pilots who voted supported the work stoppage.
