CHRONIC ESCAPEE ARRESTED

- — Staff and wire reports

COUNTY» Sheriff’s JEFFERSON deputies on Thursday arrested a man serving sentences for two prior escapes after he allegedly escaped a third time from a Golden minimum-security prison, state officials said.

Sean Hanneman didn’t show up for inmate counts Thursday morning at the Colorado Correctional Center.

Prison officials called police and sheriff’s offices at 12:45 a.m. to notify them Hanneman escaped, according to a news release by Mark Fairbairn, spokesman for the Colorado Department of Corrections.

Hanneman is serving time for forgery convictions in Douglas County and two escape convictions in Arapahoe County, Fairbairn said.

The incident is under investigation by the Office of the Inspector General and law enforcement, he said.

It was the second time this year an inmate fled from the Golden prison. Sean Ryan Garcia, 27, ringleader of a Denver crime syndicate indicted in May on 85 counts, including home-invasion robbery and kidnapping, jumped a fence May 22. He was captured.

Does candidate for governor of Wyoming actually live in Colorado?

CHEYENNE»

The issue over whether Republican gubernatorial candidate Taylor Haynes meets state residency requirements has ended up in court.

Laramie County District Judge Thomas Campbell heard arguments Wednesday in the case in Cheyenne.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that a trial on the issue of Haynes’ eligibility is set for Tuesday, and Campbell likely will issue a ruling soon about the legal authority of the state to bring the lawsuit.

Attorneys for the state are asking Campbell to suspend Haynes’ campaign and remove him from the Aug. 21 primary ballot. Haynes contends he is a resident of Wyoming.

At issue is the ranch that Haynes lives on. The ranch straddles the WyomingColorado state line, and the state says the house Haynes lives in is on the Colorado side.

Saturday NRA protest proceeding.

Denver’s March on the NRA protest organized by students is still planned for Saturday afternoon despite a group of young activists pulling out because of violent threats they received.

The local gun-control advocacy group Students Demand Action pulled its affiliation with the protest Wednesday night after a Tuesday night discussion about how to handle online violent threats the teens were receiving.

Ethan Somers, an 18year-old activist from Evergreen, wanted to assure the community that the protest will continue.

“Every time we plan to stand up for students there is always a group or someone who thinks it is OK to threaten innocent lives,” Somers said.

The State Patrol and the Denver Police Department were notified of the online threats. Somers said both entities determined it is safe to continue the rally.

The march’s goal remains to spotlight how the NRA influences politicians and will feature family members of victims of the Aurora theater and Colter-protestors, umbine High School shootings as speakers.

The march is planned for 11:30 a.m. on the west steps of the Capitol in downtown Denver. Coun- including Second Amendment-advocacy group Rally for our Rights, are planning to attend.
