Player attendance

Did not practice. WR Philly Brown (concussion, fifth consecutive practice),TE Jeff Heuerman (knee, fourth), CB Tramaine Brock (hamstring, third) and S Su’a Cravens (knee, second). Brown worked on the side (no helmet or pads), which represents the next stage in his recovery.

Physically unable to perform. WR Jordan Taylor (hips).

Did not report list. WR Carlos Henderson and WR Jimmy Williams.

Returned to practice: LB Josey Jewell (hamstring) was in uniform for the first time in camp, but was limited to individual and 7-on-7 work.

New injuries. None.

Top play

QB Case Keenum had to throw an interception at some point in camp and it came in practice No. 6. On a second-and-20 play from his 25-yard line, Keenum looked right before throwing left and S Will Parks picked it off and returned it for a touchdown. “It was only a matter of time,” Parks said. “Great play call by (defensive coordinator) Joe Woods and us being able to execute the defense. That’s all it was.”

Thumbs up

WR Courtland Sutton. Who else, right? To start QB Case Keenum’s second team segment, Sutton was covered closely by CB Brendan Langley, but made the acrobatic catch for a long touchdown. The Broncos’ offensive line ran the 40plus yards to the end zone to help Sutton celebrate.

DE/OLB Bradley Chubb. Working against second-team LT Cyrus Kouandjio, Chubb went right around him and would have gotten the sack.

Thumbs down

WR Isaiah McKenzie. It’s two big drops in two practices. He got open on a deep post route and QB Chad Kelly delivered a catchable ball that McKenzie dropped.

Penalties. A sloppy workout in that respect. NT Domata Peko and LB Jerrol Garcia-Williams had offsides penalties and there were operational errors, including one by the first-team offense that moved them back 10 yards to start a hurryup drive.

Odds and ends

•Saturday’s practice will be Alzheimer’s Awareness Day. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and the team will match all monetary donations to the Alzheimer’s Association made during the workout or online at act.alz.org/goto/broncoscountry. Purple rally towels and bracelets will be given away at the Alzheimer’s Association tent atop the grass berm. Also, the 29th annual “Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” will be at Denver City Park on Sept. 15. The goal is to raise $1.35 million.

•The Broncos worked in pads for

the third consecutive practice. •Former Broncos OLB DeMarcus Ware made his first appearance of camp as a pass rush consultant.

•LB Brandon Marshall (left wrist) was held out of 11-on-11 work for the third consecutive practice. •RB Royce Freeman took the initial 11-on-11 snap for the first time in camp; Devontae Booker had that task the first five days.

•QB Case Keenum started well, completing his first three passes in the first team segment (Butt and two to WR Emmanuel Sanders). QB Paxton Lynch threw a one-hop pass to start his day and QB Chad Kelly’s four snaps were incomplete, pass to TE Matt LaCosse, aborted play and incompletion.

•The second- and third-unit offensive lines have remained the same for all six practices: Second group is RT Billy Turner, RG Menelik Watson, C Austin Schlottmann, LG Max Garcia and LT Cyrus Kouandjio and the third group is RT Andreas Knappe, RG Jeremiah Poutasi, C Sam Jones, LG J.J. Dielman and LT Elijah Wilkinson. •Highlights of WR vs. DB one-onone drills: CB C.J. Smith did a nice job against WR Tim Patrick’s double move, CB Isaac Yiadom broke up a pass intended for WR River Cracraft but was also called for a penalty, Sanders and CB Chris Harris split two matchups, CB Brendan Langley broke up an underthrown pass intended for Sutton and Smith was called for a penalty in coverage against WR DaeSean Hamilton. •Keenum completed all four of his passes during the initial 7-on-7 period (WR Demaryius Thomas, Sutton, RB Phillip Lindsay and Thomas). Lynch’s period included looking off an open tailback in the left flat and throwing into traffic over the middle, but LB Todd Davis dropped the interception. Kelly completed all four of his passes.

•The final 11-on-11 period started with Keenum completing passes to Sutton, Booker, Sanders and McKenzie. The drive started with a penalty on S Justin Simmons (covering Sanders). Lynch overthrew an open McKenzie on a post route. Lynch later fumbled while trying to scramble out of the pocket.
