WOMAN FOUND IN FISHING POND, IS DECLARED DEAD

A dead woman was found in an east Boulder pond Monday afternoon following an extensive search, police said.

Boulder police were contacted at 12:58 p.m. by a person concerned that a family member had not shown up for a scheduled doctor’s appointmen­t, a Boulder Police Department news release stated. The family member knew that the person planned on fishing at a pond adjacent to the East Boulder Dog Park, located at 5440 Sioux Drive, earlier in the day.

At approximat­ely 1:34 p.m., members of a dive team located the body of an adult woman in the pond, the release stated. She was taken to Boulder Community Health, where she was pronounced dead.

The name of the woman hasn’t been released. Foul play is not suspected.

U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet, DColorado, will hold a town hall at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Steamboat Springs.

Doors open at 1 p.m. for the event, which has limited space. Audience questions will be picked at random, according to Bennet’s office. The event will be in the Citizens Meeting Room at Centennial Hall, 124 10th St., Steamboat Springs.

Mead resident first in Colorado diagnosed with West Nile Virus this year.

A Mead resident has been hospitaliz­ed with neuroinvas­ive West Nile Virus, according to a news release from the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environmen­t.

Test results confirmed the illness is West Nile Virus. This is the first human case of West Nile Virus in Colorado for the 2018 mosquito season, according to the release.
