- — Kyle Newman, The Denver Post

Dodgers RHP Kenta Maeda (7-7, 3.73 ERA) at Rockies RHP Jon Gray (9-7, 4.73), 6:40 p.m. Friday; ATTRM, 850 AM Maeda got rocked by the Astros for five runs in five-plus innings last week, and has allowed at least one home run in each of his past three starts. Colorado is hitting just .220 against the right-hander (28-for-127), although Maeda has owned Nolan Arenado to the tune of a 2-for-19 line with 10 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Gray, with four consecutive quality starts since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on July 14, is pitching like the ace he was hyped up to be entering the season. Over that handful of outings, the right-hander is holding hitters to a meager .139 average while striking out 25 total batters, and his groundball rate (53.3 percent) has shown incremental improvement as well.
